Cisco CCNP Training

Cisco’s CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional) is an advanced-level certification for IT professionals who “are actively involved in developing business solutions and designing and delivering multiple levels of security departments.” These individuals typically are responsible for “designing and implementing Cisco secure networks.” Either the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or CCIP (Cisco Certified Internetwork Specialist) is a prerequisite for the CCSP.

The CCSP was established in 2002 and has been most recently changed in the spring of 2003 when its underlying required exams were updated. A candidate must pass five exams in order to achieve the CCSP designation. The CCSP is valid for three years. “To recertify, take and pass the current version of appropriate security exams.”

Job roles of those pursuing this certification include: network security professional, systems security professional, and infrastructure security specialist.

Courses

  • Securing Cisco IOS Networks - Cisco’s exam 642-501, “Securing Cisco IOS Networks” (SECUR) is a core requirement for the Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) certification as well as for the Cisco Firewall, VPN and IDS Specialist designations. It is a mid level exam for IT professionals who have the “knowledge and ability to secure Cisco IOS router networks.”
  • Cisco Secure VPN - Cisco’s exam 642-511, “Cisco Secure Virtual Private Networks” (CSVPN) is a core requirement for the Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) certification as well as for the Cisco VPN Specialist designation. It is a mid level exam for IT professionals who have the “knowledge and ability to describe, configure, verify, and manage the Cisco VPN 3000 Concentrator, Cisco VPN Software Client, and Cisco VPN 3002 Hardware Client feature set.”
  • Cisco Secure PIX Firewall” (CSPFA) is a core requirement for the Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) certification as well as for the Cisco Firewall Specialist designation. It is a mid level exam for IT professionals who have the “knowledge and ability to describe, configure, verify and manage the PIX Firewall product family.”
  • Cisco Security Intrusion Detection Systems” (CSIDS) is a core requirement for the Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) certification as well as for the Cisco IDS Specialist designation. It is a mid level exam for IT professionals who have the “knowledge and skills needed to design, install, and configure a Cisco Intrusion Protection solution for small, medium, and enterprise networks.”
  • Cisco SAFE Implementation” (CSI) is a core requirement for the Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) certification. It is a mid level exam for IT professionals who have the “knowledge and skills needed to use and implement the principles and axioms presented in the SAFE Small, Midsize and Remote (SMR) User White Paper. Candidates are tested on knowledge of how the following devices can be used to create a complete end-to-end solution: IOS routers, PIX Firewalls, VPN Concentrators, Cisco IDS Sensors, Cisco Host IDS, and the Cisco VPN Client.”
